Ipswich Thriving Seniors has arrived at Booval Fair!
A new Ipswich Thriving Seniors hub is giving older residentsmore opportunities to meet new people, stay active, learn new skills and remainconnected to their local community.
Ipswich seniors have a new place to connect, make friends and try something new, with IpswichThriving Seniors launching a new community hub at Booval Fair.
Delivered bythe team at Y-Care, the program is designed to support older residents toremain socially connected, active and engaged in their community through adiverse and accessible program of regular activities.
The new hub officially launched on Tuesday, 6 October with a free community morning tea, followed by Bingo and Rummy, giving local seniors their first taste of what is planned for the months ahead.
From exercise classes and a weekly walking group to book club, jewellery making, craft, games and even ukulele lessons, the program offers seniors plenty of reasons to get out of the house, meet new people and become involved.
Importantly,participants don’t need to arrive with a friend or already know someone in thegroup. The hub is designed to provide a welcoming environment where seniors cancome along, join an activity and gradually build new social connections.
Ipswich Thriving Seniors is available to Ipswich residents aged 60 and over, or 50 and over for First Nations residents, with a strong focus on reducing social isolation and creating opportunities for meaningful community connection.
Booval Fairis providing a familiar and accessible home for the new hub, allowingactivities to take place in a central community setting close to shops andeveryday services.
The program adds another accessible community option for older Ipswich residents, whether they are looking to become more active, discover a new hobby, meet people with similar interests or simply enjoy some company and conversation during the week.
And if the launch was anything to go by, there will be plenty of fun along the way, with Bingo, Rummy, gentle exercise, plenty of conversation and new friendships already getting the program off to a lively start.
